Here to help

Keep the good nights safe.

Start here for help with your account and journal. These steps refer to Green Room on iPhone; the browser journal has separate local storage and file formats.

Account & sign-in

The iPhone app requires an account to open your journal. If you are signed out, follow the welcome screens to sign in or create an account. Use the same sign-in method you used when creating your account. Once signed in, open Profile → Settings for account controls.

For an email and password account, choose Forgot password on the sign-in screen and request a reset code. Check the inbox and spam folder for that email address, then finish the reset in the app. Apple sign-in uses your Apple account instead.

An account opens its own journal. If you have device-only entries from an earlier version, they have not been automatically imported. Use Import my local journal in Profile → Settings when available to add your real local entries to the active account.

A change is waiting to sync

  1. Check that you are signed in to the account where you saved the change.
  2. Connect to the internet and keep Green Room open while it retries.
  3. Open Profile → Settings and read the account status and any visible error.

A saved change may still be waiting on this device. If the app says your edits need review, read the error before choosing which version to keep. Use cloud version discards that account’s pending edits on this device. Export a readable journal first if you want a separate copy before deciding.

Export or restore your journal

Open Profile → Settings → Data & recovery → Export journal and use the share sheet to save the JSON file somewhere you control. The export contains the active journal’s saved entries, not unfinished log drafts. Treat it as personal information.

Choose Restore journal to select a native Green Room export. Review the entries before confirming. Restoring a device-only journal replaces it after making a backup; importing into an account adds eligible entries and preserves that account’s identity. Native exports cannot be automatically imported into the browser journal.

If your journal needs recovery

Keep the original file. An unreadable journal is preserved, and ordinary editing stays blocked until recovery is resolved. Avoid uninstalling the app or clearing its storage while you are trying to recover device-only information.

If the app offers recovery controls for an older device-only journal, choose Export original for recovery to keep a separate copy. Restore journal lets you review a known native backup before applying it. Recover with an empty journal is an explicit start-fresh action that backs up the original on the device first. These are legacy recovery controls, rather than a way to open a journal without an account.

If an account cache needs recovery, follow the account preparation screen’s export and Recover account cache controls when offered. Recovery reloads the account from the server after preserving a backup. Unsent edits in that backup are not automatically imported. Do not treat a successful local save as proof those edits reached the account.

Adjust privacy & discovery

In Profile → Settings → Privacy & discovery, review Private profile and Let people find me, then save your choices. Name and username search is enabled for new accounts once they choose a username. Contact matching has a separate opt-in under Friends from contacts and does not automatically follow anyone.

Nearby discovery can use a city you enter instead of device location permission. Review each concert’s audience before sharing it. You can read more in the Privacy policy.

Privacy & account deletion requests

Exporting a journal provides a copy of that journal. Signing out, starting an empty local journal or uninstalling the app does not delete a hosted account. In the current app, open Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account; in the browser app, open Account → Delete account. Review the account and retained copies before confirming. If cleanup fails, retry from the account controls. Signing out does not confirm that deletion finished.

For access, correction or help with a failed deletion, email support with the type of request and the email associated with your account. We may need to verify account ownership before acting. Never include a password or sign-in code.

Contact & feedback

For a question, bug report or suggestion, email support@greenroom-app.com. Include a little context so we can understand what happened.

For a bug report, include:
