A little guidance

Good questions. Clear answers.

A few things to know about keeping your live music on record. These instructions refer to the iPhone app unless noted otherwise.

Getting started

What is Green Room?

Green Room is a personal concert journal. Record the shows you attended, add ratings and notes, and see the artists, venues and places that make up your live music history.

Do I need an account?

The iPhone app requires an account to open your journal. The browser journal can save on this browser without an account; sign in to use account features. Sharing is optional on both: you do not need to connect with friends to build your collection.

Will my older local journal be imported automatically?

No. If you have a device-only journal from an earlier version, signing in opens the journal for your account and keeps that older file separate. Choose Import my local journal in Profile → Settings when offered to add your real local entries. Signing in does not import them automatically.

When do I need an internet connection?

Account sign-in, fresh catalog searches, nearby concert listings and social features need a connection. The iPhone app keeps fetched records on device and can hold saved account edits while they wait to sync. Open Profile → Settings to check the account status; a local save does not mean an upload has finished.

Your journal

What counts toward my collection?

Your artists, venues and places come from concerts you have actually logged as attended. Bookmarks, artist preferences and reviews do not add attendance or increase those collection totals.

Can I log a show I have not attended yet?

Attendance dates cannot be in the future. A bookmark keeps an available show in Saved without counting it as attended. Nearby ticket listings do not automatically become journal entries or saved shows.

How do ratings work?

Ratings run from 0 to 10, with up to one decimal place. You can revisit a saved night to edit its rating or note. A review of an artist or venue is separate from logging a concert you attended.

Can I keep a copy of my journal?

On iPhone, open Profile → Settings → Data & recovery → Export journal to save a JSON copy of the active journal. Restore journal lets you review a native export before applying it. Unfinished log drafts are not part of the export. Native and browser journal files use different formats; there is no automatic import between them.

Privacy & sharing

Who can see my journal?

Account profiles and journals start private. Sharing a concert is an explicit choice, and profile access does not automatically share every entry. Review Privacy & discovery in Profile → Settings and the audience controls on any concert you choose to share.

How can friends find me?

New accounts have name and username search enabled, but you must choose a username before appearing in results. Turn Let people find me off in Profile → Settings → Privacy & discovery. Friends from contacts is a separate opt-in that checks email matches after you give permission; it does not follow anyone automatically.

Do I have to share my location?

No. Nearby discovery offers a manual city or the option to skip. Use my location requests permission for an approximate search center while using the app. There is no background location tracking, and using a search city does not update your profile city.

Does being added to a concert log count as attendance?

No. A friend must approve before their name appears on someone else’s concert. Approval does not add the show to their journal or change their attendance totals. Each person logs their own night.
